Walt Disney World’s EPCOT, or Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow, is the second largest of the Walt Disney World theme parks with regards to square footage, and is jam-packed with fascinating things to see and do. It’s probably the most “adult” of all the Disney theme parks, with many interesting points of interest, and food and beverage options. Many locals list EPCOT as their favorite park because of the chance to uncover something totally new on every visit, so roam around and be on the lookout.

As a result of sheer size of the park, it is advisable to plan two days an EPCOT vacation if possible. Only then will you be capable of taking in a number of the points that set an EPCOT vacation apart. Epcot is divided into two main parts: Future World and the World Showcase. The front half of the park is devoted to the celebration of technology and human development, while the back pays tribute to world cultures in a World’s Fair model global community. Throughout the entire park, the theme is the celebration of achievements. EPCOT tourist attractions are designed to capture our minds eye employing cutting edge technology. Not like the other theme parks, in which each ride and show is a separate entity, just about everything at EPCOT is housed in a pavilion full of smaller attractions.

If you’re a new guest to EPCOT, I will provide a few recommendations for what I feel are “can’t miss” attractions, and finally offer EPCOT after closing, an experience not in many Disney travel guides.

Soarin’. This import from Disney’s California Adventure was put into The Land pavilion in Future World in 2005 and immediately took over as the park’s “stampede attraction” that a majority of visitors scurry to once the park opens. It is a wonderful experience that gives guests the opportunity to board a giant hang glider and soar above California by way of an enormous IMAX screen. The motion is authentic, the musical score is charming, as well as the sensory elements (like breezes of air and scents of orange groves) increase the value of the entire encounter.

IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth. This timeless EPCOT nighttime fireworks display is really a quintessential Disney spectacular. No characters or motion picture music is involved, but an original moving score guides the display as it speaks of the way the various nations around the globe can unite to assist one another. Its music is among the best found in any Disney park. Its rousing climax filled with colors and explosions is quite a spectacle, a must-see way to conclude an EPCOT vacation day.

Spaceship Earth. What it really does so incredibly well now is exactly what it has executed remarkably well for 27 years: It sets the tone for the whole theme park. It provides a well-told story of where we’ve been, where we are and where we might be going.

Should you be visiting the Magic Kingdom on a day when it’s open later than EPCOT, and you have a vehicle, make use of the monorail’s layout. Park your car at Epcot, then take the monorail to the Magic Kingdom. Monorails continue to run right until about two hours after the last park closes, so enjoy your evening in the Magic Kingdom then grab the monorail back to EPCOT to get your vehicle. The monorail line operates by way of part of EPCOT, providing the opportunity to see the park illuminated but entirely devoid of guests. The view is quite beautiful.
