Geneva is the second-most-populous city in Switzerland (after Zurich) and is the most populous city of Romandy, the French-speaking part of Switzerland. The moment you climb out of your Geneva airport taxi and arrive at your chosen accommodation in the city, you’re in for a great time. There are plenty of things to see and do here, no matter what you like doing. Visit the Jet d’Eau You can probably guess what this is from the name. It is one of the largest fountains of its kind in the entire world, and many thousands of people visit it every year. You should head for Lake Geneva to get a closer look, although you will see it from any point in the city. The water shoots up into the air at well over 100 mph. Visit the headquarters of the United Nations While you are travelling to your accommodation in a Geneva airport taxi, you may spot this white block style building. It is hard to miss if you go anywhere near it because of the rows of flags that line the walkway in front of it. You can [...]

When the stress of the wedding is left behind and only the two of you remain to head off on honeymoon to St Lucia, it makes sense that you would want to relax and take in some of the best beaches the island has to offer. Here are some great beaches on St Lucia. Reduit Beach Many Saint Lucia honeymoons are made memorable by relaxing on this beach. It is a truly gorgeous stretch of sand, but because of this it does get rather crowded during the busiest times of the year. The northern end is a little more relaxed than the southern end, and it benefits from the presence of a delightful casual bar too. You can also enjoy Reduit Beach if you simply want to go for long, romantic walks along the sands, since it stretches for five miles. You’ll enjoy relaxed swimming too, as the waters are warm and shallow here. Anse Chastanet For those who cannot imagine their Saint Lucia honeymoons to be without diving or snorkelling (or both), Anse Chastanet is the beach of choice. You’ll find it nestled in the south western [...]

London is a massive city, it is at the forefront of modern culture. It leads the way in fashion, art and entertainment. The city also has charming traditional elements from double deck red buses to old, beautifully designed buildings. It is a city for everyone: children marvel at their favorite pop stars in Madam Tussauds. Young adults enjoy the bright lights and cutting edge nightlife of Picadilly Circus and the West End. More mature visitors love to take in the rich culture by visiting the likes of Buckingham Palace. You can get around the city in one of the iconic black cabs which provide a very spacious and comfortable ride, or take a city tour on a double deck bus. The London Underground subway system is a very convenient mode of transport too, there are day passes which make long tours very inexpensive. The weather is milder than much of the UK, so it is often pleasant enough for a stroll around the streets too. The charming architecture of the old buildings combines with lively street performers in Covent Gardens for a perfect afternoon stroll. Although a busy [...]

As the largest Hindu temple in Southeast Asia, the beautiful and graceful temple of Prambanan is a magnificent spectacle and an icon of Indonesia’s cultural heritage. Located not far from the Buddhist Borobudur temple, the proximity of the two temples tells us that on Java, Buddhism and Hinduism lived peacefully next to one another. Prambanan is known locally as Roro Jonggrang, coming from the legend of the ‘slender virgin’. According to the legend once upon a time, there was a young and powerful man named Bandung Bondowoso. He wanted to marry a beautiful princess named Roro Jonggrang. Her father, the king, agreed and forced her to marry Bandung Bondowoso. Butm Sita did not love him yet could not refuse him. The temples at Prambanan were built in the 9th century. The biggest temple is dedicated to Shiva – the destroyer, and the two smaller ones which sit on its right and left are dedicated to Brahma -¬ the creator and Wisnhu – the sustainer. The tallest temple of Prambanan is a staggering 47 meters high. Its peak visible from far away and rises high above the ruins of [...]

Zanzibar is the beautiful island resorts in the Indian Ocean off the east coast of Tanzania, a tropical paradise like no other. The very mention of Zanzibar seems to set the mind wandering to pristine white beaches, tropical waters, blazing sunshine and palm trees. Unguja, the main island of the Zanzibar archipelago, has a long and troubled history. Stone Town is the capital of Zanzibar Island which dates from the 19th century and it is now a recognized World Heritage site. Over the centuries Persian, Indian and European conquests have all influenced the style of the buildings. Zanzibar is one of those rare things; an exotic sounding holiday destination that lives up to expectations. Not as obviously touristy as other tropical islands, such as Mauritius, Hawaii and the Seychelles, it’s ideal for serious scuba divers and honeymooners.
Abu Dhabi represents an exciting and surprising destination blessed with gorgeous weather and a wide range of activities. Whether you are looking for sporting, cultural or entertaining things to do there is plenty to keep you busy in the desert. Abu Dhabi is a city of contrasts; on one hand you have many traditional buildings constructed using Arabic styles such as the Grand Mosque and the other is the modern, futuristic Abu Dhabi. Its foreshore, the Corniche runs for 6 km along the city’s coast and is populated with plenty of green parklands, fountains and outdoor cafés where people take a rest from the desert heat and enjoy the views. This is a popular area and houses a replica desert oasis, the heritage village and modern air-conditioned Marina Mall, shopping centre. There is also the rambling expanse of the beach, which for a small entrance fee you can gain access to the shaded umbrellas and soft warm sand. One of the newest attractions in Abu Dhabi has been built on the excitement generated by hosting the Etihad Airways 1 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. The Ferrari World experience “Formula [...]
